Coming to the Senses

The mind is rarely still.

It replays the past. It imagines the future. It searches for certainty, solves problems, and fills the silence with thought.

The senses offer another way.

Notice the sound of the waves.

Feel the ground beneath your feet.

See the colors around you.

Feel the air against your skin.

Listen before thinking.

The physical senses are a doorway out of overthinking, and into a more grounded state. When you are more grounded you spend less time in yesterday or tomorrow. Senses live in this moment.

As attention returns to seeing, hearing, touching, and breathing, the mind often begins to settle on its own.

From that quieter place, instinct and intuition becomes easier to recognize.

Not fear.

Not overthinking.

Just a quiet awareness of what is actually here.

Sometimes the doorway back to reality isn't another thought.

It's the sound of the ocean.

The feeling of the ground.

The rhythm of the breath.

Presence begins with the senses.
