Remembering You are The Driver
Your thoughts and emotions are passengers on the bus of your life. Some are loud, frightened, or insistent. You can hear them, care about them, and consider what they’re telling you while still choosing your direction.
Research suggests that putting feelings into words can help reduce emotional distress. In the language of this metaphor, you might name your passengers: “Fear is here. Sadness is here. Anger is here.” Naming them can offer a little space—a way to acknowledge what you’re feeling and make room to choose your next step.
You don’t have to wait for every passenger to settle down before moving toward what matters to you.
