Staying Open

The mind often becomes attached to a particular outcome.

It decides what needs to happen, how a situation should unfold, or what would be required to feel okay. When life moves in a different direction, disappointment, fear, and frustration often follow.

The difficulty is that no one can see the whole picture.

The future is larger than any single plan, prediction, or expectation. Possibilities exist that cannot yet be seen. New opportunities, relationships, insights, and directions often arrive in ways that would have been impossible to imagine beforehand.

Staying open does not mean giving up on hopes or goals. It means loosening the grip on the belief that only one outcome can bring peace.

Sometimes what is wanted arrives.

Sometimes something different arrives.

And occasionally, what arrives turns out to fit more naturally than the thing that was being held onto so tightly.

When the future feels uncertain, it can help to remember:

Not knowing is not the same as something being wrong or dangerous.

The next chapter has not been written yet.

For now, it may be enough to remain curious, take the next step, and leave room for possibilities that have not yet revealed themselves.

STEP BY STEP, BREATH BY BREATH, STAY OPEN
